Following on from the historic success of this trip and hoping to repeat that this year (preferably without the coach either getting utterly stuck on a narrow bend or perilously inching towards the window of a Castleton bakery due to an inability to engage reverse), we are running the Freshers' Day Trip on Sunday the 14th of October with a similar format to in previous years i.e. Edale to Hayfield.
As such we are in need of walk leaders for the day. The fee for walk leaders travelling from Cambridge will be £10 (otherwise it's free).
We're could also do with another driver to go from Cambridge in their own car (the £10 own car wear-and-tear will be applied and as usual we'll reimburse your fuel costs).
The general plan for the day (for walk leaders) is to leave Cambridge (from Churchill College) in cars around 6:30am and arrive in the main Edale car park for 9:30 (the coach may not be there until 10am), with a goal of getting back to Cambridge before 9pm. I'll send out more detailed info, including walking groups and routes, to people who sign up.
If anyone who signs up wants to lead a particular walk or go up a particular hill (I'm keen to get Kinder Scout in as a County Top), just add that to the webform.
If you have any queries about the above, feel free to email cuhwcsafetyofficer@gmail.com
Finally I ought to say how valuable to continued contribution of Edale walk leaders is to the club. If you can afford to spend the day helping out with this, then I and other club members, present and future, will be very grateful.
