This is a wiki (editable web page) to organise cooking for the CUHWC trip to Patterdale this weekend. If you're camping, feel free to make use of the hut kitchen - but remember this means there may be limited fridge and hob space, so a little cooperation and patience may be required! The kitchen has two cookers, two double hobs, two sinks and constant hot water; all utensils, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans are provided. The club will supply cooking oil.
Click edit at the top to change the text. You can either suggest a meal idea or join one of the existing ones and you're obviously also welcome to sort yourself out (move your name to 'Independent'). The person who suggests the meal is responsible for arranging the ingredients - everyone else in the group should bring money on the trip to pay for their share, and expect to help with the preparation and washing up. Email Jo if you have any questions.
The pub in the village, the White Lion, is about 5 minutes' walk away and serves food.
Timetable
Meal suggestions by Tuesday evening. Finalise groups by Wednesday night so the person suggesting the meal knows how much they have to buy and have a couple of days to do the shopping.
BBQ
I'll bring a BBQ and chicken wings/beefburgers/sausages/vegetable kebabs etc. If there are any vegetarians please can you write by your name so I know how much veg/halloumi to get, however we probably won't manage a separate BBQ for you unless there's a lot of call for it :) I won't go for super-cheap things to put on the BBQ, so I'm guessing it'll end up costing around £4 per person.
I think realistically we'll have to say we can only have max 12 people.
Does anyone have any ideas for dessert? Can anything be BBQ'd?
- Dave - trifle?
Gordon - Bananas in tin foil and BBQ'd? I prefer this - Dave With chocolate in - Caroline
I know it never rains in the Lakes, but what if it does?
- Take a large umbrella?
- Rig up a tarpaulin?
- Create a diversion to distract the safety officer and take the bbq inside?
Main - Antiguan chicken with pineapple
Dessert - Coconut pannacotta
Maximum six people - cost about £4 each.

Silly Walk Group (Vegan)
Another cooking group as we are doing a long walk/swim and may be late back. Feel free to join, but we could be eating very late.
Almost certainly (but yet to be finalised): Chili con judía sin carne y plátano con chocolate negro cocido al fuego (aka bean chili & chocolate bananas)

- Patrick (I'd also quite like to join your walk and swim as long as you aren't going swimming with your backpacks cos I don't have a drysack!) The plan was to swim with backpack, but we can discuss on Friday night. I've tried to arrange as many drybags as I can - anyone else reading this that has a drybag, please bring it!! Jon. Ok well I'll go along to the pub tonight and see if there's anyone there to discuss it. Sounds fun though. Thanks very much! Patrick Sorry if I left too early, will discuss tonight in the bunkhouse for sure... Jon
Vegetarian something....
I was thinking one of:
Veg Gratin or roast veg layers (http://www.vegsoc.org/news/1992/nvw/weds92.html , http://www.vegsoc.org/news/1996/nvw/nvw-96-4.html).
And definitely a chocolate dessert, probably with some peaches or other nice fruit! It will be pretty cheap and easy to cook. :)

- Rob
- Carmen
Thai Red Curry
Either chicken or veggie depending on what people want. Probably with cheesecake for desert. Please people join me, or it will look like I have no friends.
- Alison
- Anne Moindrot (preferably chicken)
- Simon (meat prefered :))

Beer Keg
Further to sensible requests, I'm going to see if it's possible to bring beer in a large barrel (probably from Milton Brewery). In order to gauge the volume required, please put your name down if you would like some (by Weds eve latest) with how many nights you would like beer (it will arrive late on Friday and I'll aim to get something that will have settled enough by Saturday evening) and roughly how drunken you would like to be on those nights...
I've ordered a firkin of Dionysus. I think it will cost about £1.18 per pint. I think they'll be enough beer for those who haven't nominated a preference also! I'll bring a tally book or something...
The keg is in the car... :)
- Jon - Saturday 3pts
- Gordon - Saturday 4pts (I kind of wish I was staying longer now...)
- Ponting - Saturday 3pts
- Dave - Saturday 40 pts, although I'm staying til Friday, so if it stays longer, I'll happily drink my way through the leftovers.....
- Joe - Enough for post-exams 2nd year. Also staying until Friday, so will have plenty of time!
- Alex - 4pts
- Jo - ~4-5 pts over 4 nights (Sat-Tue)
- Tom - Saturday 3pts
- Becca - Saturday, probably only a half though!
- Oliver - 3 pints please
- Roger - Saturday 4pts
- Alison - 3 pints please
- Trine - 2 pints (Sat)
- Ian - 3 pints
- Emma - 3 pints, followed by a bovril and rum
- Simon - Sat, 4 pints
Whisky
This is important for drinking after beer, bring some...
Will have the usual selection - Dave
